Barbara G. Graybill, Esquire

Barbara Graybill brings over 25 years of long-term care experience to the firm. She started her legal career with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare Legal Office, where she worked on nursing home issues related to medical assistance. In 1983, she became counsel to the Pennsylvania Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee (eventually rising to the position of Executive Director), where she oversaw regulatory and legislative issues relating to personal care homes and nursing facilities. Ms. Graybill has been employed by the Pennsylvania Health Care Association and has worked with several law firms, where she concentrated on nursing facility work, continuing care retirement communities, and assisted living/personal care facilities. She has also worked as in-house counsel to two non-profit nursing facility providers.

Having worked on long-term care issues from a plaintiff’s perspective, from the provider’s perspective, and from the regulatory and legislative venue, Ms. Graybill brings a unique perspective to nursing home operational legal issues. Her experience will assist our clients in implementing legally defensible policies and procedures, limiting potential liability. She will assist clients in responding to day-to-day operational matters, as well as with compliance, survey, certification, and enforcement issues.

Ms. Graybill has lectured extensively across the United States on issues affecting health care providers, such as HIPAA implementation, compliance issues, survey and certification matters, developing defensive operational strategies, detecting and investigating abuse and neglect, and defensive and compliant documentation. She will be providing a full range of services to nursing homes, assisted living and personal care facilities, and continuing care retirement communities.

Ms. Graybill graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and the Dickinson School of Law of Penn State University. She is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
